Where did time go?

So I know I said I would post at least once a day...but that was before I went through two tablets (had to return both due to OS issues) then finally found what I did with the laptop when we unpacked. So, here we are!

We officially have our SC drivers license's, went to get our new tag & realized we don't have our car title! So this means we have to mail off for it, wait two weeks, then hopefully get it the following week. Fun fun. But we are officially unpacked, only took 6 weeks!

Samuel is rolling over both ways and sitting up in a Bumbo, Addy is adding new words to her little vocabulary everyday. She can now say shoes, giraffe, apple, and banana on top of all her other words. I even caught her nursing her baby-doll the other day. So sweet. She'll start wee school (or Mother's Morning Out) in about 3 or 4 weeks. Crazy!

K and I have also started P90X. It's great having someone there all the time to help motivate you, though right now I think we laugh more than actually workout during the videos. I'm doing pretty poorly in the healthy eating department. Breastfeeding just makes me so so hungry, I want to eat  everything in the kitchen!

Speaking of breastfeeding, I made lactation cookies!! I don't have a supply issue but Samuel does get fussy at the breast sometimes so even though he's growing and thriving it felt like maybe he wasn't always getting full. I got the recipe here and can I just say these things WORK! And I mean overnight. I've not felt this full in a long time, and today I even leaked right through my shirt. And that's eating two a day; I think I may need to cut it down to one a day. I did use Old Fashioned Oats instead of Steel Cut but they still work just fine!

Here's how mine came out

And I'm so excited for this weekend!! Grandma & Poppy are coming to visit!!

You know the night time...

So much for that one post a day thing. Aaron officially started his new job this week, and was put on second shift (3:30p-1a to 5a). All of a sudden I have to care for my two lovely babies all by myself for the majority of the day. If Aaron gets in at 1am-ish then it's not so bad because he's up around 9am-ish and he helps me with kids, chores, errands, etc until around 1:30pm when he starts to cook his dinner to take to work, shower, etc.

The past few nights he's gotten in between 5am & 6am which means he doesn't wake up until it's time for him to start getting ready for work, which means I'm responsible for both kids, me, chores, errands, etc all day & evening. It's an overwhelming adjustment.

So unfortunately that's what has prevented my posting the past few nights. Usually I have both babies in bed around 9pm and I COULD stay up and post (which I probably need to start doing so I can get this done & other things), but this first week of nights I get in bed at 9pm and am pooped!

I'm hoping to do a grocery/meal planning post in the next day or two. We've officially been two families under one roof for over two weeks now and yet I haven't really written anything about it!

What would you guys like to know? Anything you'd like to ask/read?

Made it through our first week!

We're here! Sorry about the absence but getting moved and down here was a lot more hectic than I thought it would be! The day we moved in Kendra was at the hospital having her baby :) So her mother-in-law was here with her other children when we came barreling in with all our boxes and our kids. Aaron and I have never lived with older kids before so that'll take some getting used to.

James and Kendra got home Sunday with their new little bundle. James' mom stayed until Thursday, and there were visitors coming and going so least to say it was a crazy week. Hopefully things will get a little more settled this week and next week. Aaron is in Charlotte today finishing his training, and he officially starts his new job tomorrow.

Oh, just in case you were curious, here's the back story to our little move:

When I became pregnant with Samuel I lost my job as a CNA (last August, long story) and I applied and applied but never did get hired on anywhere else, even after his birth. So for almost the last year we've really been struggling financially. We've barely been able to pay our mortgage let alone afford that plus everything else needed for us and two children under two.

We'd been praying and praying for God to show us what we needed to do, for someone to hire me, for Aaron to get a raise, for SOMETHING to happen. James and Kendra had come to visit us one weekend and we hadn't mentioned anything about this to them. Little did we know they had been having their own talks and while they were up they presented us with a plan that included us moving in with them. In South Carolina.

Aaron and I went back and forth for a long time, he had a list of cons while I had a list of pros. We prayed more and more, and when we finally gave into the plan and gave it over to God all the doors opened up. Aaron submitted his resume, the next day got a call from an employer, and was offered the job the next week. We couldn't argue that this is where God wanted us to go.

So here we are! Now that we've survived our first week there's so much I need to get done! DMV, car insurance, getting in with a new doctor, on and on.

I'm hoping to do at least one post a day if not more. So I hope you continue to follow along on this new chapter in our lives! Samuel & I hope you have an awesome day!

Family brunch

Happy Father's Day to all you fathers out there. I hope your day was wonderful & full of love!! Yesterday my mom & dad took Aaron, me, our kids, my brother, & his girlfriend out for a family brunch since we'll be moving 2ish hours away in 12 days. My mom has Celiac disease so eating out is very risky for her. She did some looking around & found a restaurant not too far from us in Asheville called The Posana Cafe. It's a completely gluten free restaurant so there were no worries about any gluten getting in her system.

I've eaten gluten free food before & some of it was really good, some of it not so much, so I was a little nervous going in. All I can say is the food at the Posana was amazing! Mom got breakfast, Aaron and I got burgers, Dad got the chicken sandwich, we ordered pancakes for Addy, and I'm not really sure what Scott and Lauren ordered. The portions were very generous and so tasty!

Scrambled eggs, sausage, & cheese grits

Unfortuneately I scarfed down my burger before snapping a picture of it. We all tried a little bit of everything, and honestly it was all delicious. Aaron got a bloody mary (which came with olives). I had to try a sip & it had a kick to it but was still yummy. I wanted to dip a tortilla chip in it! I ordered a coke to go with my meal & much to my delight they brought it to me in the glass bottle! I didn't even pour it in the cup of ice they brought with it, there was no need.

There's my wonderful dad in that picture as well. After brunch I was super full because I finished my plate and then some, but I just couldn't leave without some dessert. I ordered the Espresso Cheesecake and again, so good! I ate every last bite. I just can't say enough how much I enjoyed eating here and how glad I am that there's a local-ish restaurant for my mom to eat safely in. She's done so well since her diagnoses and I don't think she's really been able to go out and enjoy herself since.

There were some sad moments as well. Aaron & I will be moving in 12 days and watching my parents with my children, and laughing with my brother and Lauren made me realize how different things are going to be once we move. I've never lived away from my family like this and even when we come to visit it'll only be for a few days. It made my heart ache. I don't do change well, even though I know this is a move my family needs to make for a better future for us it doesn't make it hurt less.

It's getting real.

Today I went to Lowes & bought some moving supplies. I got boxes, tape, and some cleaning stuff. Granted I didn't get near enough boxes for our move, but I wanted to get a few just to give us an idea at about how many we'll need. I have Goodwill boxes, storage boxes, and coming with us boxes. LOTS of organizing going on! And you know what I realized today? Trying to pack with 2 under 2 in the house is really hard! We've got a lot to get done in these next 15 days.

After dinner our realtor came over to finalize the paperwork for selling our house. So many pages to sign, at least 2.5 hours worth. Our house should be getting listed in the next couple of days, I've just got a couple more pictures to send her, and we now have a lock-box on our front door. We're really moving friends. This is really happening.

Oh, and do men think that a lady can't find her way around a hardware store? I'm not mad or anything I just found it hilarious that with my Aaron maybe one person asks if we're finding everything ok. Today, alone with just the kids, I had at least four men ask me if I needed help finding something. But when it came to hauling all my boxes to the car no one offered to help me then!

Tomorrow is Friday, and it could not come soon enough!!
